We are very excited to announce that we have begun our FAMILY MEDITATION CLASSES.
Parents and their children will meditate side-by-side, eat at the same table and help clean together. In addition, parents will be able to take turns telling stories to all the children. They will spend time together while learning the followings.

◎SELF-DISCIPLINE: Together, parents and the children will learn to control their actions, words and thoughts through appropriate etiquette to create benefits for themselves and others.

◎CONCENTRATION: Sitting next to their parents, children meditate to focus their attention, decrease restless thinking, control own thoughts and increase emotional stability.

◎WISDOM: Families will learn the best ways to interact with one another in a more harmonious way through singing, games, activities, film-watching and discussions. They will increase compassion, build self-confidence and improve relationships with others.

 The First Class on 1/14

On Sat., 1/14, we had our first in a series of family meditation classes.  The classes will be held each Sat. afternoon from 2:00 – 4:00, 1/14 – 3/24.  Our first class focused on introducing ourselves to each other and the importance of showing respect for one another.  Our Abbess, Jian Pin Shifu, demonstrated how to do seated meditation.

After this first part, we had some wonderful refreshments.  While the children learned how to clean up after refreshments, adults held a meeting to discuss the schedule and the topics to be covered. The topic for the Sat., 1/21, is Respect and how it relates to the way we should treat everyone equitably.  It was wonderful to welcome our returning families and to meet new friends who wish to learn how to meditate and increase mindfulness.

These family meditation classes are free.
